Starting Over Recap Oct 2 2003
Nyanza and Christine have not been speaking. Christine says that Cassie is taking sides and calls her and Nyanza a team.
Rana asks Lori if she's been touching her roommates. Lori says that she hasn't because the fight among the roommates yesterday made it difficult. Rana asks her to unfold her arms.
Andy then says 'Lori did some touching on the lips yesterday.' Rana asks Lori about it and Lori says that her date asked her to kiss him.
Cassie is told that she's going to special event to see how far she is getting in her etiquette courses. Rana asks Cassie to take out her tongue ring for the event.
Nyanza tells Rana that she thought she had two people in the house she could trust, but that yesterday that she realized it was one. She confronts Christine about her friendship with Andy. Christine says that she accepts Nyanza's judgement that she only has one friend in the house. She does not want to cut off Andy to please Nyanza.
Nyanza has a one on one session with Rana. She says her authentic self would have never gotten involved with anyone in the house. She says that she's frustrated with Christine because she has selective amnesia; Christine pretended not to recall a conversation she had with Nyanza regarding Andy. Nyanza says that she reached out to others but got stung.
Christine tells Andy that Nyanza thinks that she betrayed her. She says that Cassie only wants to be friends with Nyanza now.
Andy says that she didn't do her homework because she went out to dinner with Christine. Rhonda says that Andy chose herself and that was great because she's a perfectionist and Andy gave up perfection to connect with someone.
Cassie balks at the upcoming etiquette test. Rana says that Cassie comes from a ripped jeans, drinking, and drugging background where etiquette doesn't
play a role.
Cassie borrows a shirt from Nyanza to wear to the event. Andy tells Cassie that her mother was an interior designer and that she was brought up with etiquette because how they looked and acted reflected on her business. A limo picks up Cassie and takes her to the event.
Lori talks to Rhonda about her date. Lori says that she's skipping steps but Rhonda tells her not to worry about it.
Cassie is taken to the Four Seasons Hotel and ends up having lunch with Rana and the etiquette lady from last week. They have sparkling cider and Cassie holds her flute correctly.
Cassie does not like the meal. She hated the salmon. Cassie gets her final
assignment - she has to plan a formal meal with her housemates with invitations
, dinner courses, etc.
After lunch, Rana asks Cassie about the lunch because she was so reluctant to attend. Cassie says she felt grateful for the experience; Rana says that she'll use those skills again. She asks Cassie why she wanted to start over at her young age. Cassie says she was getting stuck in a rut and was getting more into drinking, so she decided she wanted to get into college.
Christine's daughter and best friend fly in to Chicago. They sit and chat.
Lori's date tells her that she's a sincere person. In a voice over, Lori says she was having fun at that point. Lori asked her date if he's married. He says he's in a relationship, but he's there because something is missing. He lives with someone and its lacking love and respect. He's conflicted with his current girlfriend. Lori tells him that if he can't get his head together and leave the relationship, she'll consider seeing him at that time. Then she gets up and leaves.
Lori comes home and tells Andy about the date and says its a step back.
Christine's daughter is staying in the house. Andy has cleaned up the guest room in preparation for the visit. Nyanza's guest had previously used the room and she was supposed to clean it up but didn't. Christine is touched that Andy cleaned the room for her.
Lori is stil upset that her date lied to her and tells Cassie about it. She says that she got excited and happy too fast because it felt good to feel good.
On the previews for the next episode, Cassie gets a visit from a boyfriend.
