Starting Over Recap October 1 2003
Nyanza talks about her roommates on the phone. She says that Maureen wasn't bathing and that she was 'fucking nasty'. She also trashes Christine also saying 'she loves to go out now, she used to be Little Miss Don't Look At Me'.
Lori goes out with Rhonda to practice social skills, in particular small talk. She has to go talk to different vendors at a street vendor fair. She asks them questions about their products.
Rana asks Nyanza about what it was like to be in the wheelchair. Previously, Nyanza was instructed to spend a day in the wheelchair to learn to trust other people to help her. Nyanza says that she felt that had made two life long friends in Christine and Lori.
Lori tells Rhonda about her time out last night. Rhonda says that she's glad that Lori was able to improve her social skills and was able to turn the guy she met into someone who was safe to kiss. Later, Lori sets up a date with the same guy.
Rhonda and Rana have brought in a mediator to resolve communication issues in the house. Rhonda says that the women are having communication issues with each other and with her and Rana as well. The mediator sets down the rules for communication.
Christine says that her biggest problem is that everyone is so different from her. The mediator says moving into the house was like moving into a college dorm. Andy says that she thought that she was going to be walking into a team of supportive women and that it would be a cathartic experience. She also says that her confidences are violated. Nyanza says that Andy was vacuuming while she was talking on the phone. She says that she didn't know if Andy was vacuuming to get at her.
Andy says that Nyanza is irrational and does not have their best interests at heart. Nyanza is mad that Andy was criticizing her driving because Andy didn't really know her at the time.
Nyanza also says she doesn't forget when someone insults her. The mediator says that people will build up walls if people don't let things go. Christine says that Nyanza and Andy are dynamic women and they need to come together. Andy says that she has an alliance with Christine. Nyanza complains that Christine never said that she has an alliance with Andy. Andy says that she does have an alliance with Christine. Christine says that she never felt that there was one. Cassie tells Andy 'Can't you hear what she's saying?
There never was an alliance.'
Nyanza starts crying and says that she'd never betray other people. She says
that she doesnt' get revenge on people if they hurt her friends. She then says she doesn't have real friendships with people in the house and only has one real friend. She storms out of the room crying.
Christine sums up the whole meeting by saying that you can't be human with
Nyanza, she wants perfect friends.
After the mediator leaves, Andy tells Christine that she thought that a celebrity shrink was coming which is why she got dressed up.
Cassie says that she wondered about Nyanza's intentions. She thinks that Nyanza might just be saying what she wants to hear.
Nyanza gets back on the phone and trashes the other housemates to her sister. She calls Andy 'the bitch I can't stand'. Also, she's angry because Christine has been listening to Andy's complaints about her. In addition, Christine says that it was Christine pushing for the trifecta, and not her.
Lori talks nervously to Andy about her date. She says that they will be walking around the city during their date because the guy isn't from Chicago. On her date, they ride the ferris wheel and the guy ask to hold her hand. After the ride, the guy asks her to come closer to him, because he doesn't feel comfortable. Lori says that she's less than three feet away. In a voice over, she says that she likes to feel out a situation before she gets close to someone.
Christine and Andy go out for sushi. Christine asks about Andy's husband letting her go away for so long. Andy says that she doesn't have any friends and her husband wanted her to go and make friends.
Lori says that she went out on a date sooner than she thought she would
and had a good time. Her date also had a good time and postpones the day he is leaving Chicago. He also asks when will she be done with the show.
Christine tells Andy that Nyanza got mad because Christine is willing to meet Andy half way.
Lori comes back home and tells Maureen about her date. She had fun and her date is postponing his trip home.
In the previews, Cassie is shown complaining that she didn't come to the house to be a lady, she came to get ready for school. Lori gets her heart broken and is seen walking out on her date. Nyanza is shown telling Rana that she can only trust one person in the house.
