Want To Make It On MTV's Real World

Here's advice sent me from someone who made in a few rounds in MTV's Real World auditions:

O.k I've been reading " from all over the net " about peoples casting nightmares and couldn't be more different... My casting experience was great... I had a lot of fun and was picked each time to advance to the next round... But I only had one problem... The long application thing was to damn long asking the same questions just a little different and I don't like taking test so my answers were almost one word.... This year will be different though.. I'll take the time.... Anyway~~~>
"My pointers"
1) DON'T SEND IN A TAPE: Your tape will get lost within the sea of other tapes sent in by people.. They have so many to look through that if they don't like the first minute they won't look at the rest of the tape and in the first few minutes your just introducing yourself... " so you had better make it good " After awhile the tapes start to get boring and they get tired of looking at them so yours won't be taken seriously... If you send in a tape and go to a casting call , and your chosen to advance. You'll just have to send in another tape anyway....
2) GO TO A CASTING CALL: Yes this might be a little more competitive, but that's just what they like..If your willing to battle it out with say...9 other people and you catch there eye then that's plus for you... Plus you get to meet the casting people directly to me it's more personal. It's more here I am , in your face.. . If they like you, they like you ,if not hey... Also if your chosen to advance at the casting call and they REALLY like you.. The casting directors will call you back the next day for a 1 on 1 interview.. " sometimes with camera "... So when you are asked to make a tape and send it in after the casting call, it basically goes with a red mark that says REALLY LOOK INTO THIS GUY...
3) THE TIMID NEED NOT APPLY: I had a lesbian girl in my group who look all scared and just sat there... We were asked to go around the group and say our names.. She was so quiet we did't even hear her name.. So of course she would be looked over. Remember you are there to show off how much you would make a good rommie.. If your not CONFIDENT then you won't defend yourself in a argument... If your not OUT SPOKEN then you won't get your views or voice herd... If your not PASSIONATE about who you are. Then you will be seen as someone who's not ambitious and falls for anything... My point is BE HERD!!! Don't be afraid to talk about how you masturbate at night because your girl friend won't put out... Or how you won't drink milk because it's white.. The more unique you are the more entrusting you are... Plus who cares what the person beside you thinks.. In another hour he/she won't even remember your name and in a day or so they would't have a clue to what you said..
4) SPEAK AND LISTEN: I know you are all battling for the eye of the casting person. But, be an adult about it... In my group last year the casting lady put a topic out there for us to discuss and everyone spoke at the same time.... The casting lady was getting tired of everyone talking at once she had to tell our group to calm down about 10 times.. Myself and another girl was putting in our 2 cents but we were listening to everyone as well.. Or trying to anyway.. It makes no sense to talk over each other.. If everyone is talking at the same time then no one is really getting herd.. It makes you seem even less entrusting because no one is getting a point across.. In the end myself and the other girl who was listening as well as being out spoken were picked to advance... I don't mean out spoken by saying stuff out loud I mean by being blunt about things...
5) HAVE FUN AND DON'T LIE: I guess this is the most important because if your not having fun you won't be seen as MTV status.. They don't want people who are ambitious and confident but won't loosen up and just have a good a$$ time...If you over 21, before you go to the casting call have a few beers.. They were serving drinks at the place I was at and a beer or two won't do anything but help you be more in element around this party crew. Don't go overboard and get drunk, because there's nothing more unattractive and idiotic than a drunk.. Get a drink but stay level headed... PLEASE don't lie, if you don't really have anything going on in your life say that.. Don't make up this stupid as$ story about how you go into the woods and hug trees all day to be one with nature or how you and your friends hitch hiked a ride to Hawaii " which you can't even do " and hooked up with these girls from Alaska and now ones having your baby, if it did't really happen... If you do entrust them and they keep picking you... As you are moving up in the casting process they get more detailed about your life... They ask for numbers and names of people you know and if you give them your mamas name and she tells them that you have never even been out of her yard.. Then you and all the work they put into getting to know you will go into the trash....
I hope that this helps everyone who will be going after this season... Take to heart what I said up there and you will look even better to the agents... Remember though... You'll GET WHATEVER YOU PUT YOUR MIND TO! Go in there knowing that you will be picked and make them want to pick you.... See ya at the open call... This time I will take my own advise and take the long application seriously!!!!
