Starting Over Recaps: September 22 2003
Today, on 'Starting Over', Christine says she does not like Andy because her personality changes through any interaction.
Cassie has her etiquette coach coming over to the house. The coach will help her with her interview skills and teach her about formal dinner manners.
Nyanza is off to volunteer with Easter Seals. Christine has a latin dance lesson.
Rana suggests that she take Lori so they can both dance with men and get ready for real intimacy.
Andy wants to go as an observer with Christine, because she had dancing lessons prior to her wedding (hence she thinks that she'd make a great dance coach!). However, Christine is upset because, she has outbursts that Christine
feels are manipulative.
Later in the kitchen, Cassie says she won't go to fancy lunches so she does not need etiquette. Christine says she might be a successful archeologist and will be invited to lunches so she does need the lessons.
Nyanza bonds with a little crippled girl at Easter Seals. She says that being around the disabled reminds her of her sister, Tanya, who is not mentally and physically disabled after being in a coma.
Andy writes her good bye letter to her dream jobs ; Rhonda says it will open her up to other creative possibilities. While writing, Andy is interrupted by Cassie and the etiquette consultant
and asks them to move to the dining room.
On her volunteer excursion, Nyanza is invited to be an Easter Seals volunteer, but doesn't really want to do it. She feels pressured into saying 'yes'.
During her lesson, Cassie is instructed to look to the hostess after sitting down at the table. She also learns how to eat a formal dinner and how to walk down the stairs.
Nyanza says that the visit helps her realize that it is ok for people to be around you and help you. She also says she lied when she said that she wanted to volunteer and has to tell the lady that. Later she tells Christine that she got engaged 5 times because she was such a people pleaser.
Andy gets dressed up to go out with Christine and Lori even though she has not been invited. She insists on going out as a reward to herself for writing the letter.
In the afternoon, Cassie is preparing to cook the etiquette lady a three course
meal. Christine says she should get a makeover next.
During the latin dance lesson, Christine gets annoyed with Andy for instructing her
to move her hips and feet. She resents Andy's presence. Lori gets peeved too, because until Andy showed up, they had been having fun. At the end of the night, Andy senses that Christine and Lori are mad with her. She asks if they are mad and they
says know but their body language says something else. She calls her husband crying but he has no time to talk. Christine tells Nyanza what happened; she and Lori were annoyed that Andy showed up and interfered with their dance lesson.
On previews, the house gives up on getting along with Andy. Christine says she brings drama to every situation. Cassie and Lori get tatoos. Andy goes and tearfully buries her dreams in the dirt.
